Free Home Insulation Rebate Now Available!

Yes, Free Insulation. Sounds too good to be true? Well, Kevin Rudd, the Prime Minister of Australia has announced that from the 3rd of February 2009, installing insulation in your home will now make you eligible for a $1200 rebate from the government. As jobs for the average household usually cost less than this, most homes in Australia will receive their insulation free of charge!

Who is eligible for the Home Insulation grant?

Home owners: $1200 Grant

To be eligible, you must:

• be the owner and occupier of your primary place of residence
• not already have ceiling insulation installed or have ceiling insulation installed that is deemed as having negligible effectiveness (an R-value of 0.5 or less)
• be an Australian citizen or permanent resident aged 18 years or over;
• have not been granted assistance under the solar hot water rebate program since the rebate was increased to $1,600 on 3 February 2009.

Tenants/Landlords: $1000 Grant

To be eligible, you must:

• be the landlord of the dwelling where the insulation was installed at the time the insulation was installed; OR
• the tenant of a dwelling with evidence of the landlord's permission (letter from landlord or landlord's agent) to install ceiling insulation in the property; and
• obtain the approval of the body corporate, if applicable; and
• be an Australian citizen or permanent resident aged 18 years or over;
